ACADEMIC MAJORSPsychologyDegree Awarded: Bachelor of ArtsThe psychology major is designed to increase personalunderstanding of animal and human behavior and mentalprocesses and to provide basic preparation for entrance intograduate school or pursuit of a professional career in the field ofpsychology. Students should realize careers in the field ofpsychology typically require further training; many of ourstudents pursue graduate studies in this field. It is stronglyrecommended that all psychology majors participate in aninternship (PS 250/350). Internships introduce students to avariety of careers that require this training and provide valuablehands-on experience. Psychology students have worked with theJuvenile Court, shelters, psychiatric clinics and rehabilitationagencies.
