A clearer Africanorientation became evident in research,academic programmes and conferencepapers, amongst others.The official opening of the multidisciplinaryCentre for Plant Health Management(CePHMa) in October 2005positioned the Faculty of Natural andAgricultural Sciences as a leader in thefield of crop development in Africa.CePHMa is the only centre of its kind onthe continent and was established toextend the expertise in plant health managementin South Africa and in Africa, totrain experts in plant health and to conductmultidisciplinary research aboutthe health of agricultural crops.A growingSouth Africanand Africanorientation isevident inresearch andteaching.11
