Abandoned bicycles will beremoved and discarded.Camping and Shelter ConstructionConstruction of shelters, camping or sleeping out on Shenandoah-owned or operatedproperties is prohibited unless approved in writing by the vice president for student life.Computer MisuseA student who is found responsible of misusing a Shenandoah-owned computer or theShenandoah-owned computer network shall be subject to the maximum sanction ofdismissal or any lesser sanction deemed appropriate. This includes student using privatelyowned computers or equipment that accesses the university-owned network either on oroff campus.Below is a partial list of acts that violate this policy:• Committing computer fraud, creating false identities, forgery, harassment, personal abuse,trespassing, theft, embezzlement or invasion of privacy.• Using the computer to examine, modify or copy programs or data other than one’s ownwithout proper authorization.• Distributing or interfering with the normal use of the computers, computer-relatedequipment, data and programs of individuals, the network or the university.• Attempting to breech security in any manner.• Sending or displaying harassing messages through email, text messaging any electronicmedia. A harassing message is any message that is unsolicited, inappropriate or deemedharmful to the recipient.• Using a computer account for any purpose other than which it was assigned.For a complete list and full policy, contact the Institutional Computing Department.Hazing (Virginia Law)Pursuant to Section 18.2-56 of the Code of Virginia, voluntarily participation by memberswill not be admissible as defense against a charge of hazing.Any person found guilty of hazing shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor, unless the injurywould be such as to constitute a felony. In that event the punishment shall be as otherwiseprovided by law for the punishment of such a felony. Any person receiving bodily injury byhazing or mistreatment shall have a right to sue, civilly, the person or persons guilty thereof,whether adults or infants.Public Postings and Advertisements on CampusIndividuals, organizations and businesses that want to post printed material of any kind onShenandoah University property or within Shenandoah-operated buildings must first obtainwritten approval from the student life information coordinator in the Brandt Student Center.
