VII. Education of University CommunityAcademic Policies • 781. Students: The Division of Student Life, Office of Academic Affairs, and faculty areresponsible for educating students about the Honor Code and its position in theacademic environment at the university.a. The Honor Code will be printed in the Academic Policies section of theundergraduate and graduate catalogs.b. During orientation the Division of Student Life, Office of Academic Affairs, andfaculty will meet with new students to explain the principles and procedures ofthe Honor Code. The Student Government Association (SGA), the administration,faculty, and staff of the university are also jointly responsible for further education.c. The Executive Board of the SGA is responsible for having two (2) copies of thisHonor Code on reserve in the library and copies available upon request forstudents and other members of the university community, including parents.2. Faculty: Deans and directors, or their designees, are responsible for educating theirrespective faculty and staff of the Honor Code, its position in the academicenvironment, and the procedures for handling an Honor Code violation.a. This Honor Code will be printed in the Faculty Handbook and posted on theOffice of Academic Affairs community Blackboard website.b. Faculty members or course coordinators/instructors should have a statementregarding academic integrity and the Honor Code in their course syllabi.c. Faculty members or course coordinators/instructors may insert a statement intocourse tests and assessments by which students can attest to their observance ofthe code.Figure 1. Overview of Honor Code ProcedureAlleged Honor Code ViolationAccused Student-Faculty Reporter MeetingFaculty Reporter meets with Accused Student to discuss evidence and allow AccusedStudent to respond. Faculty Reporter may consult an AIR to discuss incident and obtainadvice prior to meeting with Accused Student. If Accused Student is found guilty, theFaculty Reporter proposes sanction(s). Faculty Reporter and Accused Student shouldcomplete and sign Violation Report Form. Accused Student has option to accept thedecision and sanction(s) or to request an Academic Integrity Meeting.Student ReporterStudent reporter informs course instructor or Academic Integrity Representative (AIR).Accused Student accepts decision and sanction(s). Faculty Reporter delivers form to Officeof Academic Affairs (OAA) and awaits confirmation.Academic Integrity MeetingAccused Student, Faculty Reporter (must attend unless Accused Student requests thatthey not attend) and at least 1 (one) AIR are present.
