Keffer, DirectorBowman Building, School of Education and Human Development(540) 535-3544 or (540) 535-3552Professional Development and Community Programs • 364What is the Office of Education Outreach (OEO)?The Office of Education Outreach is a department within Shenandoah University's Schoolof Education and Human Development (SEHD) which provides professional and licensurecourses approved by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) for teacher licensureand recertification. Many of these courses are available in Winchester and Leesburg; avariety of licensure and recertification distance courses are also available via distancelearning each trimester.Initial Teacher Licensure Courses (graduate credit)Students may enroll in OEO initial licensure courses as a Visiting Student. These courses arebeneficial, allowing students to enroll at an affordable tuition rate as they select thelicensure program that best fits their needs.OEO initial licensure courses will transfer into PSC (Professional Studies Certificate) orM.S.Ed. (Masters of Education) programs. It is important that students apply for admissionto the university once they are enrolled in their first OEO licensure course, since thenumber of credits that transfer does vary by program. OEO course offerings andregistration information may be found at www.su.edu/oeo.School Development and PartnershipsOEO is able to offer individualized courses for school districts to meet specific needs thedistrict may have.
