Ganske, DeanHealth & Life Sciences Building, Office 1<strong>15</strong>(540) 678-4374MissionThe mission of the School of Nursing (SON) is to prepare graduates who deliver, manageand lead nursing care in a variety of health care settings, and who participate in personaland professional development.Overview of Nursing ProgramSince the 1960s, Shenandoah University has played an integral role in the education ofnurses in the northern Shenandoah Valley. This rich tradition includes a program of study inthe SON that culminates in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Preparation for presentand future nursing practice must address the ever-changing, increasingly complex and multidimensionalhealth needs of our society. To become educated, learners become involved inintellectual work and critical thinking in order to transform information into knowledge,skills, values, meanings and experiences necessary for the provision, management andcoordination of general nursing care for individuals, families, groups and communities at thebaccalaureate level. Analyze knowledge associated with professional nursing practice and membership withinthe nursing profession.2. Demonstrate skill in the delivery, management, and leadership of professional nursingcare.3. Demonstrate values consistent with the ethical delivery of professional nursing care.4. Exemplify unique meanings associated with professional nursing.5. Actively and intellectually engage in professional nursing experiences.The BSN may be achieved via several tracks including:• Traditional four-year• Transfer• Accelerated second degree• Veteran to BSN Specialization• Registered nurse to BSN
