Prerequisite: DAPE 223. One credit.DAPE 233 Jazz IIIDesigned for the non-dance major, this course offers a continuation of the study of technique in the jazz style withemphasis on performance skills. Prerequisite: DAPE 134. One credit.DAPE 234 Jazz IVDesigned for the non-dance major, this course offers a continuation of the study of technique in the jazz style withemphasis on performance skills. Emphasis is placed on improving movement efficiency whilecultivating the body-mind connection for enhanced expressivity and artistry. Enrollment is limited to MusicPerformance majors only. One credit.DAPE 333 Musical Theatre Dance Styles IThis course for musical theatre majors (and others with permission of the instructor) develops skills, knowledgeand processes for the study of musical theatre dance repertoire. Emphasis is placed on performance of traditionalmovement vocabulary for different historical time periods and musical genres, developing a character throughchoreography, and developing the versatility necessary for professional work. Through these processes, studentsdevelop an understanding of the technical and artistic foundations necessary for performance, choreography, andteaching. One credit.DAPE 334 Musical Theatre Dance Styles IIThis course for music theatre majors (and others with permission of the instructor) develops skills, knowledge andprocesses for the study of musical theatre dance repertoire. Emphasis is placed on performance of movementvocabulary for a variety of contemporary musicals, developing a character through choreography and developingthe versatility and adaptability necessary for professional work. Through these processes, students develop anunderstanding of the technical and artistic foundations necessary for performance, choreography and teaching.One credit.DAPE 393 Social Dance StylesThis course explores the fundamentals of contemporary dance styles such as ballroom, folk dance, contra danceand country line dancing. Through these processes, students develop an understanding of the technical and artisticfoundations necessary for performance, choreography and teaching. One credit.DAPE 495 Special TopicsThis course is an investigation of a specialized topic within dance. Prerequisites will vary with topic. One, two, orthree credits dependent upon topic.
