Legal research and writing skills are critical to success in the field of law.Research, analysis, and legal writing methods are the focus of this course. The techniques used in makingcritical judgments, analytical decisions, and study methods are emphasized in the course. Legal Research,and Judgment and Analytical Ability are two of the law subjects that are tested in the Certified LegalAssistant Examination. This course is offered every spring semester.LAW 370 TORT LAW3 s.h.An overview of Tort law. A study of case law and of motion practice. Students will be taught an overviewof the practice of Tort law to include issues such as civil wrongs, remedies, product liability and negligencein general. Remedies will also be addressed. Legal ethics is an integral part of this course. This coursewill be offered in even number years in the Fall or when needed.LAW 371 CONTRACT LAW3 s.h.This course covers the foundations of Contract law. Students will be taught an overview of the practice ofContract law to include issues such as civil wrongs, breeches of contracts, Uniform Commercial Code andthe area of contract formation. Students will also be taught the necessary procedures to enforce contracts.Legal ethics is an integral part of this course. This course will be offered in odd numbered years in thespring or when needed.LAW 382 BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS3 s.h.The course covers the legal foundations for the practice of Business Law, and the creation, practice, anddissolution of business organizations. It is designed to give a minimum of overview, with an emphasisupon ;current practices. The tax consequences of Business Organizations are covered only in overviewformat. Legal ethics is an integral part of this course. Business Organizations is one of the law subjectsthat is tested in the Certified Legal Assistant Examination.
