ATP 319 EVALUATION II3 s.h.This course is a continuation of the evaluation course series with the emphasis being students’ acquisitionof knowledge, skills and abilities in the recognition, evaluation, treatment, and prevention of injury to thehead, face, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. Prerequisite: ATP 318. This course is offered everyspring.ATP 321 GENERAL MEDICINE & PHARMACOLOGY I2 s.h.This course is a continuation of the evaluation course series with the emphasis placed on students’acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities in the recognition, evaluation, treatment, and prevention ofinjury to dermatological conditions, eye, ears, nose, and throat pathologies, chest and abdomen medicalconditions, and the legal issues and fundamentals of pharmacology. Prerequisite: ATP 319. This course isoffered every fall.ATP 322 GENERAL MEDICINE & PHARMACOLOGY II2 s.h.This course is a continuation of the evaluation course series with the emphasis placed on students’acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities in the recognition, evaluation, treatment, and prevention ofgeneral medical conditions and a further exploration of pharmacology. Prerequisite: ATP 321. This courseis offered every spring.ATP 330 APPLIED RESEARCH AND EVIDENCE BASED CLINICAL PRACTICE 1 s.h.This course will review research methodologies and the research process. Students will apply the conceptsof validity, reliability, and objectivity to research and critically analysis of scientific literature.Prerequisites: ATP 130, 322.ATP 331 CLINICAL EXPERIENCE III3 s.h.This course is designed to challenge students with hands-on competency modules for evaluation andrehabilitation of injuries to the head, spine and upper extremity. In addition to completing competencymodules, students are required to complete at least 150 clinical hours of experience to assist students’ intheir development of professional knowledge, skills, and abilities. Prerequisites: ATP 319, 383. This courseis offered every fall.ATP 332 CLINICAL EXPERIENCE IV3 s.h.This course will challenge students by requiring them to complete competency modules integrating theirknowledge, skills, and abilities developed during the Evaluation, Therapeutic Exercise, TherapeuticModalities, and General Medicine courses. In addition to completing competency modules, students arerequired to complete at least 150 clinic hours to assist students’ in their development of professionalknowledge, skills, and abilities. Prerequisites: ATP 321, 382. This course is offered every spring.ATP 381 THERAPEUTIC EXERCISE I3 s.h.This course will cover a wide variety of rehabilitation techniques including the principles of therapeuticexercises, their selection, design and implementation during rehabilitation programs for various pathologiesof the lower extremities. Prerequisite: Admittance into the Athletic Training Program. Co-requisite: ATP318. This course is offered every fall.ATP 382 THERAPEUTIC MODALITIES3 s.h.This course covers the underlying theory, basis for selection and application of therapeutic modalities usedin the treatment of athletic injuries. Prerequisites: ATP 318, 319, 381, 383. This course is offered everyfall.ATP 383 THERAPEUTIC EXERCISE II3 s.h.This course will cover a wide variety of rehabilitation techniques including the principles of therapeuticexercises, their selection, design and implementation during rehabilitation programs for various pathologiesof the spine, trunk and upper extremity. Prerequisite: ATP 381; Co-requisite: ATP 319. This course isoffered every spring.185
