Students awarded the grade of “I” will not be considered for the President’s List eventhough the incomplete grade may be changed later and subsequently qualify the student for this honorstatus.The Dean’s ListStudents who achieve a 3.50 or better GPA with at least 42.0 quality points during the semester on atotal course load of 12 or more s.h., with no grade of D, F, or I and no developmental courses, are named tothe Dean’s List. Students awarded the grade of “I” will not be considered for the Dean’s List even thoughthe incomplete grade may be changed later and subsequently qualify the student for this honor status.Honors and AwardsAlpha Chi is a National Honorary Scholastic Fraternity chartered in 1922. The North Carolina MuChapter was installed on October 8, 1976. Membership is limited to the top 3% of the junior class and thetop 5% of the senior class.The Monarch Theatre Award is given to the students who have contributed the most during the seasonto Methodist University Theatre Department productions, either in performance on stage or as technicalsupport staff backstage.The American Institute of Chemists Student Award is sponsored by the American Institute ofChemist Foundation, Inc. to a senior student majoring in the area of chemistry, chemical engineering, orbiochemistry who demonstrated a record of ability, leadership, and professional promise. The awardconsists of a certificate and a one-year Student Associate membership in the American Institute of ChemistFoundation.The Anthony J. DeLapa Art Achievement Award was established in 2003 to honor Dr. Anthony J.DeLapa for his contributions to the college in the position as Vice President of Academic Affairs and as theDepartment Chair for Education. The award is presented annually to a junior or senior Art or ArtEducation major selected by the Fine Arts Division. The student is recognized for his/her academicexcellence and contribution to the arts as well as their demonstrated outstanding potential as an artist. Onlyqualifying students with a 3.0 GPA or higher in their major will be considered. The award consists of a$250 honorarium, certificate, and a memorial plaque, located in the Fine Arts Division and inscribed withthe recipient’s name.35
