SPE 351 SCIENTIFICALLY BASED RESEARCH METHODS IN SPECIAL EDUCATION II3 s.h.The course focuses on designing and evaluating instructional plans, organizing effective student learningenvironments, and using technology throughout the curriculum. Requires a minimum of ten observationhours in an accredited school. This course is offered every Spring semester. Prerequisites: SPE 255 andSPE 260. With permission of the instructor this course is open to licensed teachers and lateral entrycandidates.SPE 385 COLLABORATION WITH PARENTS AND EDUCATORS3 s.h.The characteristics, roles, and skills of interpersonal relations with parents, general education and otherprofessionals in the education of exceptional children. This course is offered in the fall semester as needed.SPE 419 SEMINAR IN POSITIVE BEHAVIOR DEVELOPMENT3 s.h.Models and strategies, techniques for building self concept and managing behaviors that promote success inthe learning environment; focus on inclusion classrooms and social and emotional needs of individuals withdisabilities. Requires a minimum of ten observation hours in an accredited school. This course is offeredevery Spring semester and as needed.
