89of SIMS for quantitative measurement of uraniumisotopes and contaminated metal surfaces by naturaluranium. Linear correlation between the SIMSmaximum ion intensity vs. alpha activity as wellas of SIMS maximum ion intensity vs. surface’sweight were obtained according to Fig. 7 and Tab.4, respectively. We can see from these correlationsthe deviation from linearity of low-level activitydiscs, which is caused by low count rates in SIMS.These are evidently near background of SIMS device.Measurements of minimal detection mass(MDM) of uranium isotopes and uncertainties ofthe counts in SIMS need to carry out additionalexperiments, but they were not realized for timedemandingness yet. Preliminary results indicatethe possibility to use SIMS for quantitative analysisof surface contamination by uranium isotopes. From SIMS measurement it may be expected theacquirement of information about depth profiles ofdistribution of uranium as well as about distributionuniformity on a metal surface.AcknowledgementThis work was supported by the Slovak Researchand Development Agency under the No.APVV-20-007105 as well as by Scientific GrantAgency of the Ministry of Education of the SlovakRepublic – VEGA project 1/2447/05.REFERENCES1.
