It is a new and a modern gospelborn of the application of a metaphysical logic to the conclusionsof materialistic Science, of a philosophic subjectivism tothe objective pragmatic positivism of recent thought. Just asGermany applied the individualistic position to the realisationof her communal subjective existence, so she applied the materialisticand vitalistic thought of recent times and equipped it witha subjective philosophy. Thus she arrived at a bastard creed, anobjective subjectivism which is miles apart from the true goal ofa subjective age. To show the error it is necessary to see whereinlies the true individuality of man and of the nation. It lies notin its physical, economic, even its cultural life which are onlymeans and adjuncts, but in something deeper whose roots arenot in the ego, but in a Self one in difference which relates thegood of each, on a footing of equality and not of strife anddomination, to the good of the rest of the world.
