Housing for Distance <strong>Student</strong>s<strong>Student</strong>s in the Seminary Distance Degree Programs (M.Div. and M.A.M.C.) are required to meetresidency requirements in order to complete the degrees. The educational goals <strong>of</strong> the programsare most fully achieved by students living in a residential setting that builds community andenhances learning. Toward these ends, students are housed as cohorts in hotels <strong>of</strong>f-campus.<strong>Student</strong>s are assigned to private rooms. Meals are <strong>of</strong>fered on campus. <strong>Student</strong>s participating intheir first residency period are required to purchase a lunch and dinner meal plan. Returningstudents have the option <strong>of</strong> purchasing a lunch only or lunch and dinner meal plan. Complimentarytransportation is provided to and from the <strong>Dubuque</strong> Regional Airport. A complimentary daily shuttleservice is also provided between the housing facility and the UDTS campus. Staff from the Office <strong>of</strong>Residence Life coordinate the housing, meal plan, and transportation for students while they arein <strong>Dubuque</strong>.KeysThe Director <strong>of</strong> Residence Life will provide keys at check-in. Housing deposits will not berefunded until all keys have been returned. If keys are lost, duplicates may be obtained throughthe Office <strong>of</strong> Residence Life. A fee <strong>of</strong> $50 will be charged for key replacement.LaundrySeminary Townhouses - Electric washer and dryer hookups are available in townhouses.Washers and dryers are generally not furnished. However, a few may be loaned to internationalstudents. The <strong>University</strong> is not responsible for maintaining these appliances.Liaison to Residential LifeThe Pastor to <strong>Student</strong>s <strong>of</strong> the Seminary is available to serve as a liaison with the Director <strong>of</strong>Residence Life if any particular difficulties arise.TelephonesResidents renting unfurnished townhouse units or houses are responsible for establishing theirown telephone service. Jacks are furnished in units. The <strong>University</strong> furnishes basic service infurnished units. Actual phones are not provided.TelevisionThe <strong>University</strong> provides basic cable services in residence units. <strong>Student</strong>s must provide their owntelevision sets.Trash ServicePlease be sure to dispose <strong>of</strong> garbage on a regular basis—preferably once a week. Townhouses-A large dumpster is located near the guest parking area in each cul-de-sac for use only bytownhouse residents and a second dumpster is to be utilized for recycling products.112
