Response TeamComposition - The Response Team for Allegations <strong>of</strong> Sexual Harassment (herein “ResponseTeam”) shall be a team composed <strong>of</strong> six persons. One female member and one male member<strong>of</strong> this team shall be members <strong>of</strong> the Faculty/Staff and shall be appointed by that council. Onefemale member and one male member <strong>of</strong> this team shall be full time students at the Seminaryand shall be appointed by the <strong>Student</strong> Council. One female and one male member <strong>of</strong> this teamshall be persons serving on the Council <strong>of</strong> Advisors and shall be appointed by that council. TheCouncil <strong>of</strong> Advisors, the Faculty/Staff council, and the <strong>Student</strong> Council shall each appoint a femaleand a male alternate to serve on the Response Team in the event that a primary member (<strong>of</strong> thesame gender) is unable to serve for consideration <strong>of</strong> a particular claim. The Response Teammembers (primary and alternate) shall serve for two-year terms. No person who is an accuser,accused, or a witness to an alleged situation <strong>of</strong> sexual harassment shall be a member <strong>of</strong> theResponse Team which considers a particular claim arising from that situation.Any consideration <strong>of</strong> a claim begun during a member’s term shall be completed by such member.Reappointment for another term or terms shall be permitted. The Response Team members(primary and alternates) shall be trained to respond to allegations <strong>of</strong> sexual harassment inaccordance with this policy. Training shall include matters in the following areas: the dynamicsand effects <strong>of</strong> sexual harassment, and administrative, disciplinary, and legal matters. Suchtraining shall also include general information on the role <strong>of</strong> applicable judicatories. The Deanshall coordinate such training.A quorum for this team shall be four members. In order to have a person who can serve as a point<strong>of</strong> contact for training and for referral <strong>of</strong> claims, and in order to facilitate orderly meetings <strong>of</strong> theResponse Team, the Response Team shall elect its own Moderator. If the Moderator is not able tobe present for the consideration <strong>of</strong> a particular claim, the team considering the claim shall elect amoderator for the consideration <strong>of</strong> that claim. The Response Team once constituted for a particularclaim shall remain as the team to consider that claim in accordance with this policy, even if theterm <strong>of</strong> any member has or may expire while the claim is under consideration; however, if a quorum<strong>of</strong> members is not available to continue in such service, newly appointed members may fullyparticipate in consideration <strong>of</strong> the claim.Role and FunctionsRole - The Response Team acts to promote healing, reconciliation, and respect <strong>of</strong> persons ininstances <strong>of</strong> alleged sexual harassment, and performs the functions as set out in this policy.As such, the Response Team acts as a facilitator to quickly and objectively respond to claims <strong>of</strong>sexual harassment. The Response Team is not a judicial body and is not bound by any type <strong>of</strong>adversary process.Required Functions - The Response Team shall:• Receive from the Dean the written claim <strong>of</strong> sexual harassment as submitted by the personwho desires to submit such a claim.• Begin inquiry <strong>of</strong> the allegations within ten working days.116
