AWEJ Volume.5 Number.3, 2014Errors Analysis: A Case Study of Saudi Learner‟s EnglishAlahmadiyears, where most categories has been analysed according to their source in this paper. Themost problematic errors were analysed, and their sources were discussed. Moreover, errorswhich been classified in this study is not limited to the categories mentioned. There are someunique errors such as , the use of the “perfect tense” which was almost neglected to be used bystudents in Saudi Arabia, as only 6 out of the 30 students have been found to use the “past or thepresent perfect tense”. Additionally, The abovementioned categories have been chosen accordingto the majority of errors committed by Saudi students, in addition to grammatical errors with theUse of sentences with pronoun copying, and errors with regular and irregular verbs, which areless common among other types of errors, as illustrated in diagram (A). However, identifying thedefinite source of these errors is not an easy task. As most of these errors were due to the mothertongue interference, which may support the recent studies of the importance of the role played byfirst language and in which has a great impact on the process of second language learning.About the Author:Nesreen Saud Alahmadi is currently a PhD candidate at Leeds University researching in thefield of English teaching and second language acquisition.
