GETTING STARTEDKEYPADThe keypad is used to select measurementconditions and to enter values. LEDs indicate theactualmeasurement conditions.PARAMETERThe [R+Q], [L+Q], [C+D], [C+R], and [AUTO] keysselect the parameter being measured. Theselected parameter pair is indicated above themajor and minor parameters in the display. IfAUTO is selected, the unit will select the mostappropriate parameter pair and turn on the AUTOLED above the major parameter display.FREQUENCYThe [UP Arrow] and [DOWN Arrow] keys selectone of the following output frequencies: 100 Hz,120 Hz, 1 kHz, 10 kHz or 100 kHz (<strong>SR720</strong> only). The LEDs indicate the selected frequency.DRIVE VOLTThe [Select] key cycles through the three outputdrive voltages, 0.1 V, 0.25 V and 1.0 V. Theselected voltage is indicated by the LEDs. If noLED is on then the output drive voltage is in thevernier mode. The [Cons Volt] key places the unit in the constantvoltage mode.BIAS[Internal] selects a 2.0 VDC internal bias. [External]selects an external bias source. Pressing theactive key ([Internal] when internal bias is alreadyselected or [External] when external is selected)turns the bias off.Note that the bias is used only for capacitancemeasurements. Pressing either of these keys inany other mode, including the auto mode, willdisplay the error "bias for C".MEAS RATEThe [Rate] key selects a slow, medium or fastmeasurement. These rates correspond to 2, 10, or20 measurements per second at measurementfrequencies of 1 kHz or higher.AVERAGEThe [Average] key places the unit in the averagingmode. Pressing it a second time returns the unit tothe non-averaged mode. The number of readingsaveraged is set to between 2 and 10 from the entrydisplay.RANGE HOLD[Range Hold] holds the unit in its currentmeasurement range. Pressing the key a secondtime returns the unit to autoranging or normal1-3
