When performing open circuit cal,hold the tips about the same distance apart as they will be when measuring partsand keep your hands still. Sometimes it is valuable to check the "quality" of thenull calibration by measuring the part that was used to perform the null cal (theshorting block). If the residual error is larger than the measurement can tolerate,it may be necessary to re-do it until an acceptable calibration is achieved.Other FixturesIn general, follow the procedure for performing null cal as described above.
