Field work isrequired.BIOL 4426. ANIMAL PARASITOLOGY.Three credit hours. Two hours of lecture and onethree-hour laboratory per week. Prerequisites:BIOS 3002 or BIOL 3022 or BIOL 4015 or BIOL3043 and BIOL 3044 or BIOL 3052.General principles and origin of parasitism. Studyof the principal pathogenic protozoas andhelminths, their life cycles, host relationships andcontrol measures.BIOL 4428. GENERAL ORNITHOLOGY.Three credit hours. Two hours of lecture andone three-hour laboratory per week.Prerequisite: BIOL 3022 or BIOL 3425.Introduction to the study of birds, their structure,classification, ecological relations, and economicstatus. Considerable field work is done, andpractice is given in the methods of collection andpreparation of study skins.BIOL 4446. INTRODUCTION TOENTOMOLOGY. Three credit hours. Twohours of lecture and one three-hour laboratoryper week. Prerequisite: BIOL 3022 or BIOL3425 or BIOL 4015.An introduction to entomology based on thestudy of the biology of insects. Students arerequired to make an insect collection, andpractice is given in the determination andrecognition of the most important orders andfamilies.BIOL 4465. TAXONOMY OF VASCULARPLANTS. Three credit hours. Two hours oflecture and one three-hour laboratory per week.Prerequisite: BIOL 3435 or BIOL 3417 or BIOL3052.The principles of taxonomy and their application.A general survey of the groups of vascularplants, with the identification and classificationof representatives of the local flora.
