One hour seminar perweek. Prerequisite: Student in the PhysicsDepartment.Academic and professional orientation forstudents entering the Department of Physics.PHCS 3028. ELECTROMAGNETISM FORTEACHERS. Four credit hours. Three hours oflecture and one three-hour laboratory per week.Prerequisite: PHCS 3027.Introduction to electromagnetism for high schoolteachers, including teaching methodologies andtechniques. Topics include Coulomb’s Law,electric fields, electric potential, circuits,magnetic force, Biot-Savart’s law, magneticinduction, and electromagnetic waves.PHCS 3029. MODERN PHYSICS FORTEACHERS. Four credit hours. Three hours oflecture and one two-hour laboratory per week.Prerequisite: PHCS 3028.Introduction to modern physics for high schoolsteachers, including methodologies andtechniques. Topics include special relativity, thephotoelectric effect, blackbody radiation, theCompton effect, atomic spectra, Bohr’s atom,quantum mechanics, and nuclear physics.PHCS 3091. ELEMENTS OF PHYSICS. Threecredit hours. Three hours of lecture per week.Prerequisite: MATH 3172 or MATH 3174 orMATH 3005 or MATH 3143.Basic concepts of mechanics, thermodynamics,optics, and electromagnetism oriented speciallytowards agriculture.PHCS 3092. ELEMENTS OF PHYSICSLABORATORY. One credit hour. One two-hourlaboratory per week. Co-requisite: PHCS 3091.Laboratory exercises and demonstrations applyingthe principles studied in PHCS 3091.PHCS 3151-3152. MODERN COLLEGEPHYSICS. Three credit hours per semester.
