Prerequisite: (SPAN 4201and SPAN 4202) or ENGL 3225.Phonological, morpho-syntactic and lexicosemanticevolution of the Spanish language fromLatin.SPAN 4012. THE SPANISH LANGUAGE INHISPANIC AMERICA. Prerequisite:(SPAN 4201 and SPAN 4202) or ENGL 3225.Analysis of Hispanic American Spanish from theperspectives of linguistic geography,dialectology, and sociolinguistics.SPAN 4021-4022. CERVANTES. Three credithours per semester. Three hours of lecture perweek each semester. Prerequisite: SPAN 3212.Lectures on the works of Cervantes accompaniedby critical analysis. Study of this writer's poetry,"entremeses", novels, with special emphasis onthe Novelas Ejemplares and Don Quijote, andconsideration of the importance and significanceof these writings in the field of Hispanic letters.SPAN 4051-4052. SPANISH LITERATUREOF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY. Threecredit hours per semester. Three hours of lectureper week each semester.
