An informationdesk service is provided to answer questions andassist patrons in the effective use of the onlinecatalog and of the resources, facilities, andservices that are available. The information deskis located in the lobby at the main entrance and isopen from Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 11:30a.m. and from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.Members of the Library’s professional staff offerthe following formal courses: AGRO4019–Seminar in Horticulture, BIOL3055–Bibliography and Library Research in theBiological Sciences, and SOSC3145–Bibliography and Library Research in theSocial Sciences, and INTD 3355-ResearchMethods in Libraries.Library services are fully automated, and theonline catalog can be accessed from terminalsand computers installed in the Library, oranywhere on Campus as well as through theInternet. A local area network (LAN) allows forthe use of databases in CD-ROM from variouscollections. Cataloging and classification aredone online using the bibliographic utility of theOnline Computer Library Center (OCLC). TheLibrary is also a member of the SoutheasternLibrary Network (SOLINET) and the U. S.Agricultural Information Network (USAIN). Incooperation with the State Department ofEducation, the Library runs the Puerto RicoCooperative Information Network, which allowslibraries as well as, some public and schoollibraries throughout the island to share theirresources.The Library's rules and regulations are includedin its Bylaws.
