Prerequisite: consent of the Director of theDepartment.Theoretical and practical aspects of the scanningelectron microscope (SEM) with emphasis onsample preparation for SEM, detection of thedifferent types of signals emitted by thespecimen, and image analysis.BIOL 5397. EUKAKYOTIC MOLECULARGENETICS. Four credit hours. Two hours oflecture and two four-hour laboratory per week.Prerequisites: BIOL 3300 AND CHEM 5071.Genome complexity; gene structure, regulationof transcription; mRNA processing; transposons;signal transduction; the genetics of development,the cell cycle, and cancer; research techniques inmolecular genetics.Analysis of the geological, morphological,anatomical, physiological, and geographicalevidence showing how the different plant phylahave evolved, with emphasis on the evolution oftracheophytes.
