Prerequisites: ECON 3091 and ECON3092 and (MATH 3102 or MSTA 3102).A study of the fundamental economic problemsof our time, such as production, employment,trade, consumption, inflation, and others.ECON 4425. SPECIAL TOPICS. One to threecredit hours. One to three hours of lecture orseminar per week. Prerequisite: Consent of theDirector of the Department.Authors, topics, and trends in the field ofeconomics.ECON 4995. SPECIAL PROBLEMS. One tothree credit hours. Three to nine hours ofresearch per week. Prerequisite: Consent of theDirector of the Department.Research under the supervision of a professor ofthe Department.DEPARTMENT OFENGLISHThe Department of English provides variouscourses of instruction for all students attendingthe Mayagüez Campus.With regards to the general requirement inEnglish, three separate 12 credit-hour sequencesexist within the Department of English.A. The Basic Sequence: ENGL 3101, 3102,3201, 3202;B. The Intermediate Sequence: ENGL 3103,3104 and six additional credit-hours in EnglishDepartment courses to be chosen from anapproved list of courses provided by the EnglishDepartment;C. The Honors Sequence: Six credit-hours aregranted to students by means of AdvancedPlacement. Students must then take ENGL 3211and 3212 to complete their requirement. Notethat although these two courses carry 3000-levelnumbers, they are actually second year courses.Note that students who start in one sequence maynot take courses in one of the other sequences tosatisfy the university's English requirement. Forexample, students in the "IntermediateSequence" may not take either ENGL 3201-3202129
