6.7 The National Observatory for HRHIn 2008, the High <strong>Health</strong> Council of Jordan was commissioned to establish nationalHRH observatory, and in June 2008, the first stakeholders’ meeting was held andproduced a coherent coordination framework among stakeholders. As a result, apermanent national forum was created and has been meeting on a regular basissince then to address, debate and solve HRH related issues and challenges. In July2009, the HRH national observatory of Jordan was launched and has beenoperational with instant updating of HRH data and information www.hhc.gov.jo/nhrhoA national HRH Task Force chaired <strong>by</strong> HE <strong>Dr</strong>. Taher Abu El-Samen, SecretaryGeneral of High <strong>Health</strong> Council of Jordan, with members representing nationalstakeholders was appointed <strong>by</strong> the Prime Minister in June 2008. The Task Force isresponsible for the following tasks:· Review national strategy for HRH to ensure its applicability and consistencywith the national goals for health.· Develop national HRH database that can be continuously updated.· Establish national HRH observatory under the supervision of the HHC aimedat building national capacity to provide reliable data needed for evidencebaseddecision making in addition to having a network for national, regionaland global sharing.· Support studies and operations research pertaining to HRH.· Develop national plan for HRH.· Monitor implementation of national HRH plan with regular evaluation andprogress reports.75
