Example 1 ‘V’ Notch Weir<br />

In this example it is required to calculate the flow through a Simple<br />

Exponential Device, which on this occasion is a V-Notch Weir. The K factor<br />

for the weir is unknown so ratiometric calculation will be used, there is no<br />

requirement for alarms and the flow rate is to be displayed in Mil USG/day.<br />

The totaliser is to record the flow in 1000’s USG but is not to be displayed<br />

during RUN. The transducer to be used is a dB3.<br />

The distance from the face of the transducer to zero flow (P105) is 40<br />

inches and max head (P704) is 15 inches, maximum flow (P705) is known<br />

to be 2.2 million US gallons/day.<br />
