Focus: this activity raises teachers’ awareness of diversity, helps one experience exclusion, and promotes the<br />

viewing of people and their behaviour from multiple perspectives through the use of a video, acting, creative<br />

illustrations and a debriefing discussion. Some of the steps can also be adapted to classroom use.<br />

Target group: pre- or in-service teachers of age groups 6-10/10-14/14-18<br />

PROCEDURE<br />

Introduction<br />

Tell your participants briefly that in the next session(s) they will watch a very short video, and then they will<br />

be expected to act something out, discuss their feelings and impressions and then illustrate the discussion.<br />

Step 1 (watching a short video – 10 minutes)<br />

1. Do not tell your participants what they are going to watch and why.<br />

2. Make sure that every participant has a pen and paper.<br />

3. Ask them not to talk until the activity is over.<br />

4. Watch the video.<br />

5. Wait <strong>for</strong> 20 seconds in silence.<br />

6. Watch the video again.<br />

7. Ask them to write down the feelings they had when they saw the video.<br />
