Recommendations
Recommendations for Milliken’s downtown are based on a shared community vision and set of
goals grown and refined throughout the Design Guidelines process. These goals not only represent
Milliken’s ideals, they also reflect the values and character of the community, and the most important
improvement needs unearthed during conversations and work sessions with community members.
From the beginning of the process, the goal that drove all others was to create implementable Design
Guidelines – a visionary document that distills the steps, resources and strategies for implementation
needed to approach and achieve the community goals. To this end, each section of the
Recommendations section includes a set of actions and resources needed to move the goals into
implementation.
