The purpose of the <strong>Design</strong> <strong>Guidelines</strong> is to provide an illustrative document to encourage creativity<br />
and high-quality urban design within <strong>Milliken</strong>’s downtown core.<br />
Overall, this document intends to:<br />
• Enhance the character and function of <strong>Milliken</strong>’s downtown spaces<br />
• Promote high-quality redevelopment projects<br />
• Provide clear objectives, designs and implementation plans for Broad Street, the Heritage House, Town Square the Grain Elevator, Windmill<br />
Gateway and Fireman’s Park<br />
• Promote building and site design that respects the vision for <strong>Milliken</strong>’s downtown rehabilitation<br />
• Promote design that enhances a ‘sense of place’ and character for downtown<br />
• Increase an awareness of the vision for <strong>Milliken</strong>’s downtown spaces among community members<br />
• Maintain and enhance property values within the downtown core
