Chapter 3: Recommendations Project Area Recommendations Broad Street Architectural Infill An articulated façade with elements that recede and push forward create a more visually rich appearance, break up the massing of larger buildings, and allow for the design of protected courtyard spaces Tucked-under parking and a wood/hardiplank facade defines the alley elevation. Courtyards stepped back from Broad Street could also reflect a wood-type building treatment. 49
Project Area Recommendations Broad Street Directional and Informational Signage Chapter 3: Recommendations Broad Street Directional & Informational Signage Designed to correspond to the proposed Windmill Gateway signs, the new directional/informational signage will be used to help orient visitors to downtown Milliken resources and destinations. The directional signage will be color-coded to the “Come ‘Round to Milliken” thematic groupings, and will use arrow symbols to point to different locations. These directional signs should be located within one block of the destinations they are referencing. The informational signage should be placed within the boundary of the project area it’s referencing. For example, the Lola Park sign should be placed in Lola Park. 48
