Top concerns about growth and development in
downtown:
• Not enough people
• Losing small town feel/growth is too fast
• Lack of shops/attractions
• Parking for downtown businesses
• Cleanliness (ie. vacant lots; feels “junky”)
• Rapid business turnover
• No grocery store
• Sidewalks/infrastructure
• Kid’s activities/things to keep youth occupied
• Tax increases
The majority (57.4%) rated the cleanliness of
downtown as “okay”, followed by “needs
improvement (25.3%)
Impressions of graffiti/vandalism were low; ranked
“minimal” to “none” by the vast majority
(combined 86.5%)
Downtown Milliken is largely seen as “safe” or
“very safe” (combined 78.2%)
Where respondents would invest $500,000 to
revitalize downtown:
• Grocery store
• Attract new businesses (ie. incentives for
business, marketing and promotion)
• Infrastructure (ie. cleanliness, landscaping,
improved aesthetics)
• Improved trail connections
• Rec Center for community, especially youth
91.8% of respondents do not support C-5 uses

• GOOD for downtown: Farmers' Market (Beef and
Bean Days, Festival of Lights
• NEUTRAL for downtown: Halloween Party, Egg
Hunt/Easter Festival, Senior Bazaar
77.3% of downtown business owners reported
“increased” or “significantly increased” business
during special events
Additional downtown events of interested
included:
• Holiday-themed festivals (ie. 4 th of July, Harvest
Festival)
• Concert series/live music
• Car show
• Movie nights
• More events for kids
