Existing Conditions Side Streets – Neighborhood Connections Overview Chapter 2: Existing Conditions <strong>Milliken</strong>’s downtown side streets reflect an eclectic mixture of land uses and densities. Although most of the side streets become single-family residential as they move north and south of Broad Street, the block between Harriet Avenue and Grace Avenue (south of Broad Street) is largely commercial and civic, with several open lots that present opportunities for redevelopment and new construction. Beginning at Josephine Avenue and heading west, the side streets are primarily residential. For most of these blocks, the side streets dead end to the north, where fences and ditches prevent auto movements onto Broad Street. North and south of Broad Street, the side streets are roughly connected by two alleys that allow access behind the Broad Street commercial developments. Cherry Street and Elm Street are the two east-west running side streets. Side Streets 26
