Broad Street - Milliken’s ‘Main Street’
Overview
As the main thoroughfare within and through
downtown, Broad Street is Milliken’s ‘front door’
and the commercial/civic core of the community.
Broad Street is also a Colorado State Highway
(Highway 60), and carries over 6,000 car trips (verify)
a day. Through downtown Milliken, Broad Street has
two travel lanes, a continuous middle turn lane,
parallel parking along both sides of the street, and
continuous sidewalks on the north and south. In the
western section of Broad Street leading up to the
downtown commercial/civic center, there is no onstreet
parking or middle turn lane, and a detached
multi-use trail on the south side replaces the
continuous sidewalks found in the downtown core.
For the purposes of the Downtown Design
Guidelines project, Broad Street’s two different
character areas will be referred to as the
“Downtown Core” and the “Transition Zone”.
