A sixth-round selection of Carolina in the 2013 NFL
Draft, Kenjon Barner (pronounced Ken-Yon) was
originally acquired by the Eagles from the Panthers on
Aug. 19, 2014, in exchange for a conditional seventhround
draft pick in 2015. Waived-injured following the
2014 training camp, the Eagles signed Barner to their
practice squad on Nov. 4, 2014. A collegiate standout
at the University of Oregon, Barner appeared in 49
games with 20 starts for the Ducks and finished his
collegiate career ranked second in school history
with 3,623 rushing yards and tied for second with 41
rushing touchdowns.
BIRDSEED
• As a senior in 2012, Barner only needed to take
two electives during the fall semester to finish his
degree in criminology and settled on studying yoga
and ballet. Barner was interested in the effects that
the two activities could have on his on-the-field
performance and reaped immediate benefits of
the added flexibility and balance from partaking in
those classes. “I’m more in tune with the motion of
my body, with the movement of it,” Barner told The
Oregonian in 2012. “You can definitely, definitely
benefit from it.”
