27 S | MALCOLM JENKINS
BIRDSEED - Cont.
• After reading The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks, Jenkins
began collecting an array of different survival tools in what
he describes as “a half-hearted attempt at doomsday prepping.”
Also names AMC’s The Walking Dead as his favorite TV show
• In 2016, Jenkins participated in a NFL version of Celebrity Family
Feud hosted by Steve Harvey, which aired on July 3. Jenkins
and the rest of the NFC defense defeated the AFC offense and
collected $25,000 for Got Your 6 charity in the Fast Money round
thanks to Jenkins’ impressive 152-point effort
• Was a high school teammate of Kyle Wilson and Anthony Davis,
all of whom went on to be first-round draft choices
• Active in the New Orleans community, was recognized in 2013
with the John Wooten Professional Leadership Award for devoting
his time and serving as a leader on and off the field
the Ohio State Alumni Association. This award acknowledges
professional success and continues to reflect the highest
qualities of a consummate athlete and humanitarian”
• His wife, Morrisa, recently started a company called Meaux
Moisture (meauxmoisture.com) which sells all-natural body
QB Kirk Cousins, which he returned 64 yards for a TD at Was.
to record an INT-TD in three straight seasons
• Sacked Bears QB Jay Cutler for a 10-yard loss on the second
play of the game in a 29-14 Monday night victory at Chi. (9/19)
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
For a player who won a
Super Bowl and played in a
Pro Bowl, his career did not
exactly begin in a blaze of
glory. Jenkins was originally a
nine-year old, back-up guard
for the Piscataway Braves of
his Pop Warner squad in New
Jersey. Jenkins recalled that
he played just seven plays per
game that was mandatory for
all players in that league. “All
I remember is that I got my 7
plays in and from there it was
a race to get the free hot dog.”
STYLIN’ IN THE SECONDARY
Jenkins has fully immersed
himself in the world of fashion
and, more specifically, the
bow tie. At the suggestion
from his wife, Morrisa,
Jenkins launched his own
company, Rock Avenue Bow
Ties, which specializes in the
design and creation of neck
wear and pocket squares and
encourages self expression
in its customers. For more
PERSONAL
• Married to his wife, Morrisa, and has one daughter, Elle.
Malcolm and Morrisa met on Facebook while he was a senior
at Ohio State. “She was at Southern Miss, so we talked on
Facebook for a while and I just happened to get drafted by the
Saints. New Orleans was only an hour and ten minutes from
where she was in Hattiesburg, so we started hanging out and
the rest is history.”
• Son of Willie Lee and Gwendolyn V. Jenkins. His dad is a
software engineer for Comcast and his mom is the president of
The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation
• Attended Piscataway (NJ) High School where he led the
team to three-consecutive state titles playing wide receiver
and defensive back. Also was an All-State and All-American
selection as a senior
• Excelled at track and field, where he won the state title in the
400-meter dash as a junior
• Was a leader in the Omega Psi Phi fraternity at Ohio State,
graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communications
