A long and athletic corner, Nolan Carroll re-signed
with the Eagles on a one-year deal during the
2016 offseason. Carroll registered career highs in
tackles (54) and passes defensed (15) in 2015, but
was placed on Injured Reserve on 11/27/15 after
suffering a broken right ankle on Thanksgiving Day
at Det. (11/26/15). A former fifth-round draft choice
of Miami in 2010, Carroll emerged as a starter for the
Dolphins in 2012 and set career highs in interceptions
(three) and sacks (two) in 2013. A native of Green Cove
Springs, FL, Carroll was a four-year letterman and
team captain at Maryland.
BIRDSEED
• Claims the biggest influence on his career is his
high school coach Ron Riddle. Said Carroll: “He
had me in gym class and pretty much convinced my
mom to let me play football. I wasn’t allowed to play
until my sophomore year of high school. I owe so
much to Coach Riddle”
• Was originally recruited to Maryland as a receiver.
Said Carroll: “I liked receiver, but I’ve always considered
myself a defensive guy. I’ve always had that
mindset. I basically begged to play corner”
• One of Carroll’s favorite hobbies is restoring old
cars. His most prized possession is a 1972 Cutlass.
“I bought it my rookie year and have been working
on it ever since,” said Carroll. “It’s almost where I
want it to be”
