”
- Eagles Punter Donnie Jones
Bryan Braman originally signed with the Houston
Texans as a rookie free agent in 2011 and has
emerged as a proven force on special teams over the
course of his career. Braman signed a two-year deal
with the Eagles prior to the 2014 season and signed
a one-year extension in the 2015 offseason that will
keep him in Philadelphia through 2016. Braman has
served as a “core four” special teams player with
the Eagles, providing leadership on a unit that has
accounted for 12 touchdowns from 2014-16.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
• Has 52 special teams tackles in 93 career games
• Was named a Pro Bowl alternate and to USA
Today’s All-Joe Team in 2012 after leading the
Texans with 16 special teams tackles and notching
a franchise-best two blocked punts
• Blocked a Pat McAfee punt in the second quarter
vs. Ind. (12/16/12) and ran it back 8 yards for his
first-career touchdown
2016 HIGHLIGHTS
• Tallied his 50th career special teams tackle in a win
vs. Min. (10/23) and helped block for WR Josh Huff
as he returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.
Huff’s return touchdown marked the first time in
franchise history that the Eagles returned kickoffs
for touchdowns in back-to-back games
• Paved the way for Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood to
return a kick for a touchdown at Was. (10/16)
• Recorded his first special teams tackle of the
season in a Week 3 win vs. Pit. (9/25)
BIRDSEED
• Prior to landing his first NFL job as a rookie free
agent with the Houston Texans in 2011, Braman
thought his football career was over. “After I
got kicked out of Idaho, I was making concrete
railroad ties for a year, just back-breaking work.
It was tough.” Braman went to West Texas A&M
in 2009 after a two-year stint at Long Beach City
College. He originally went to Idaho, where he was
a redshirt freshman in 2006. “The bottom line is I
was just immature and got caught up in bad things.
It was an eye-opening experience for me and really
forced me to grow up. I think going through that
ultimately made me a better person. I’m so much
more appreciative of everything I have now.”
• Claims to get his size from his late grandfather, Ivan
Cecil Braman, a WWII veteran who was a whopping
7-foot-4 and 360 pounds
• Was heavily recruited out of Shadle Park (WA)
H.S. as a standout track star. Competed in the
4x100 relay, high jump, long jump and javelin. Has
considered training for the javelin following his
football career and would love to have the chance
to throw in the Olympics for Team USA
