Maragos used an unlikely source to get his shot at
Wisconsin: Facebook. “I was a walk-on receiver at
Western Michigan, but it was always a dream of mine
to play at Wisconsin,” said Maragos. “My brother was
the mascot there and he knew some guys on the team.
So, I decided to give it a shot.”
Maragos looked up Wisconsin’s starting WR Luke Swan
on Facebook and sent him a message. “I told him my
brother was Bucky Badger and wanted a shot to play
at Wisconsin. He responded and got my film in front of
the coaches. Next thing I knew they were asking me to
walk on. It was amazing.”
EARLY MENTORS
Maragos began his football
career in 2nd grade for the
Buffalo Bills of the Racine
Youth Sports league in Wisconsin.
He was coached by his
father, Nick, as well as Bob
Evans and Anthony D’Alie and
credits them for helping him
become the player he is today.
Recalled Maragos, “They
were so detailed oriented and
were hard nosed coaches. I
learned a lot about the game
of football from them. Plus
we never lost. Ever.”
