Project description Derbyshire Street is in a densely populated part of east London, next to a park and the Oxford House community and arts centre. Before the redesign, the street was a dead-end with parking issues, anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping. The potential of the site’s south-facing aspect, existing trees and community involvement helped develop a consensus for streetscape improvement. A key aspect of delivery was the partnership between the local highway authority, the flood management teams and the community. This grassroots approach enabled funding from the Mayor of London’s Pocket Park initiative.
