Actions and results<br />
• Green roofs were <strong>in</strong>stalled to <strong>in</strong>crease<br />
attenuation storage capacity where it<br />
has not been possible to disconnect<br />
downpipes that run <strong>in</strong>ternally. The<br />
green roofs were <strong>in</strong>stalled on b<strong>in</strong> stores<br />
and pram sheds; these are visible<br />
at ground level and from above<br />
• A bioretention bas<strong>in</strong> was built to<br />
attenuate ra<strong>in</strong>water. This flow comes<br />
from surround<strong>in</strong>g impermeable surfaces<br />
and from the roof of an adjacent build<strong>in</strong>g<br />
• Permeable pav<strong>in</strong>g has <strong>in</strong>creased the<br />
volume and rate of <strong>in</strong>filtration <strong>in</strong>to<br />
the subsurface, help<strong>in</strong>g to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><br />
the effectiveness of bioretention<br />
and detention bas<strong>in</strong>s by limit<strong>in</strong>g<br />
the water flow<strong>in</strong>g to them<br />
• Run off from 900m² of impermeable<br />
surface has been conveyed <strong>in</strong>to a <strong>SuDS</strong><br />
• A community grow<strong>in</strong>g area of<br />
32m² has been created<br />
Lessons learned<br />
• Engag<strong>in</strong>g residents <strong>in</strong> the development<br />
of proposals ensured a detailed<br />
understand<strong>in</strong>g of how the streetscape<br />
functioned, thereby maximis<strong>in</strong>g<br />
the reach of project benefits<br />
• Despite CAT and radar scans, some<br />
below ground services were not<br />
identified and required designs to<br />
be revised to accommodate them<br />

same cost as conventional landscape<br />
improvement when compared to<br />

• Landscape has been transformed<br />
