Coax refers to a technology based on coaxial cables -<br />
electrical cables with an inner conductor surrounded by a<br />
flexible, tubular insulating layer, surrounded by a tubular<br />
conducting shield. Coax is used to transmit radio frequency<br />
signals and distribute cable-TV signals, etc.<br />
Content service refers to a service that typically includes<br />
information or entertainment, broadcast or provided online.<br />
Coverage refers to the accessibility of a service expressed<br />
as a percentage. Mobile coverage is typically calculated as<br />
the share of the population who can use the service.<br />
Landline coverage is typically calculated as the share of<br />
households that can use the service.<br />
CPE or Customer Premises Equipment refers to equipment<br />
that is implemented or installed at a customer’s premises.<br />
CPE includes the hardware required to handle TV, telephony<br />
and data traffic (e.g. routers, switches, DSL modems and<br />
other equipment used to create LAN and WAN solutions).<br />
DBA refers to the Danish Business Authority (in Danish<br />
Erhvervsstyrelsen).<br />
Dial-up refers to an internet connection that uses a<br />
traditional landline voice call to connect to the internet.<br />
Direct business is a business area in <strong>TDC</strong> Sweden, which<br />
handles sale of landline and mobile telephones, headsets,<br />
conference call telephones, etc.<br />
Dongle refers to a USB stick (flash drive) containing a<br />
modem used to access mobile broadband.<br />
DSL or Digital Subscriber Line refers to a technology that<br />
enables a local-loop copper pair to transport high-speed<br />
data between an exchange building and customers’<br />
premises.<br />
DTH or direct-to-home refers to digital TV transmitted<br />
directly to households via satellite. Subscribers need a<br />
satellite dish to receive signals.<br />
DTT refers to Digital Terrestrial Television, which is a digital<br />
signal broadcast to standard aerials that are utilised to<br />
replace the discontinued analogue signal.<br />

Dual-play refers to the bundling of telephony and internet<br />
through one access channel only. In YouSee the dual-play<br />
bundles include TV and broadband. Dual-play bundles are<br />
included as two customers in the total customer figures.<br />
EBITDA refers to profit before interest, tax, depreciation,<br />
amortisation and special items. EBITDA before pension<br />
income refers to EBITDA excluding the financial<br />
components (interest cost and expected return on assets)<br />
related to defined benefit plans.<br />
ECSI refers to the European Customer Satisfaction Index, a<br />
standardised methodology for measuring customer<br />
satisfaction.<br />
EDGE or Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution refers to<br />
the GSM network coding that enables data to be sent and<br />
received faster than over GSM. EDGE is often described as<br />
2.5G.<br />
Equity free cash flow or EFCF refers to EBITDA adjusted for<br />
non-cash items, pension contributions, provisions<br />
payments, changes in net working capital, net interest paid,<br />
corporate income tax paid and cash flows relating to capital<br />
expenditures (in all cases excluding special items).<br />
Ethernet refers to a type of networking technology for LANs<br />
that is increasingly used in the IP networks.<br />
Fault correction hours refer to the amount of hours spent<br />
correcting network faults that have occurred as a result of<br />
water damage, frost, cut cables, etc.<br />
Fault rate refers to the share of customers experiencing a<br />
fault, recorded on an annual basis. Fault rates are calculated<br />
as the number of faults in a given period, scaled to an<br />
annual basis and divided by the number of RGUs.<br />
Fibre Optics Communication or Fibre refers to a technology<br />
used to transmit telephone signals, internet<br />
communications and cable television signals. Due to much<br />
lower loss of intensity and interference, optical fibre has<br />
major advantages over existing copper wire in long-distance<br />
and high-demand applications.<br />
FTE or Full-Time Equivalents refers to full-time employee<br />
equivalents, including permanent employees, outsourced<br />
civil servants, trainees and temporary employees and<br />
excluding temps.<br />
