Auerbach and cvworkers28 have suegested that lung cancer
could arise in nonsmokers secondary to hei.led tubercuiosis
sraas, althou¢h this is unlikely to atcount for many
cases.z' Another possibility is that lung cancer in nonsmokers,
es ;xcially adenocarcinoma, is estroQen-related
since it is more common in women than in men . It has
been shovm that adenocarcinoma of the lung frequentty
conttins estrogen r>:ceptors .n Still another possibility is
that a.rcinoQr.ns of nutritional origin could be carried to
the lung by the blood . These possibilities deserve epidemiologic
exploration .
