Vicki Myron, Dewey (Penguin). Vicki Myron grew
up on a farm south of Moneta, Iowa. She has a
bachelor’s degree from Mankato State and a
master’s from Emporia State University in Emporia,
Kansas. In 1982, she returned to Spencer, Iowa
and began working at the public library, eventually
serving as director of the Spencer Public Library
for more than 25 years. She retired in 2007 and
wrote Dewey, a memoir praised by Booklistas an
“an unforgettable study in the mysterious and
wondrous ways animals, and libraries, enrich
humanity.”
