Within the SCAFFOLD Consortium five industrial partners will carry<br />

out the demonstration activities through real-life Industrial Use<br />

Cases (IUC). IUC will focus on three stages <strong>of</strong> the MNMs Life Cycle<br />

in the construction sector: 1) MNMs manufacturing (Raw MNMs<br />

<strong>and</strong> construction products containing MNMs); 2) Use in<br />

construction sites (Building construction <strong>and</strong> Civil works, including<br />

potential maintenance activities) <strong>and</strong> 3) Disposal in demolition<br />

field. The demonstration <strong>of</strong> SCAFFOLD results will aim to:<br />

2. Focus research activities on some specific <strong>and</strong> priority<br />

industrial applications, scenarios <strong>and</strong> MNMs <strong>of</strong> the European<br />

Construction industry.<br />

3. Focus the project research tasks in the IUC (industrial<br />

demonstration) from the very beginning <strong>of</strong> the project.<br />

4. Develop demonstration activities (IUC) across Europe<br />

considering different safe-cultures <strong>and</strong> awareness levels as<br />

well us company scales (large <strong>and</strong> SMEs).<br />

With the aim <strong>of</strong> achieving the S&T Objectives set in the project, the<br />

Consortium will tackle multidisciplinary research activities that<br />

have been <strong>grouped</strong> into eight Workpackages (WPs): WP1-5 as RTD<br />

activities, WP6 as Demonstration activities, WP7 as Other activities<br />

(Dissemination <strong>and</strong> exploitation) <strong>and</strong> WP8 as Management. The<br />

Figure 1.5 shows the project approach <strong>and</strong> strategy according to<br />

the organization <strong>of</strong> WPs.<br />
