Madagascar es uno de los países más pobres
del mundo. Las principales perjudicadas por
esta situación son las mujeres, que han de soportar
el machismo imperante en la sociedad
malgache sufriendo, a veces, maltratos y el
abandono por parte de sus maridos. Sin recursos
económicos de ningún tipo, sobreviven en
la calles a base de realizar pequeños trabajos
o gracias a la mendicidad practicada por ellas
mismas y por sus hijos; en algunos casos, incluso
se ven obligadas a prostituirse.
Madagascar is one of the poorest countries
in the world. Women are the most affected
by this situation, as they have to deal with
the chauvinism that prevails in the Malagasy
society, suffering abuse and abandonment by
their husbands. Without any type of economic
resources, they survive on the streets by
doing small jobs, by begging themselves and
their children, and in some cases, even by
prostituting themselves.

En diciembre de 2005 cerraba sus puertas
el Cinema España, último cine que sobrevivía
en el madrileño barrio de Carabanchel. Todos
han sucumbido a los nuevos tiempos de la
televisión, el vídeo y los multicines, en los
que el público ha desertado de las modestas
salas de barrio.
In December 2005 Cinema España, the last
cinema that remained in the Madrid suburb of
Carabanchel, closed its doors. Everyone has
succumbed to the new times of television,
video and cinema complexes, in which the
public has deserted the modest cinemas of
the neighbourhood.

Tere, una mujer de 65 años, sale cada día de
su casa para presenciar los diferentes actos
sociales que se presentan en Barcelona. A
pesar de su soledad y de un ambiente familiar
poco favorable, Tere sabe distraerse en
estos encuentros en los que come, se pasea,
observa y saluda a los responsables de dichos
actos hasta el punto de que le dan una
medalla por acudir a todos los actos de una
de las fundaciones.
Tere, a 65 year old woman, goes out every
day to attend the different social events in
Barcelona. Despite her loneliness and an
unfavourable home environment, Tere knows
how to enjoy herself at these events where she
eats, goes for walks, she observes and greets
those responsible for these events to the point
that she is given a medal for having attended
all the events of one of the foundations.

en el alcohol, pocos la recuerdan Un encuentro
violento con la pobre María, la limpiadora
del bareto donde aún la dejan tocar, la hace
recapacitar sobre su vida. Ambas mujeres
emprenden juntas un camino de superación.
Carmen Maña is a great singer. It’s the 1970s.
Thirty years later, consumed by alcohol,
few remember her. A violent encounter with
Maria, the cleaner at the only bar where she
is still able to sing, makes her reflect over her
life. Together they embark on a journey of
overcoming their issues.
