Otilia and Gabita share a room
at a students’ hall of residence.
Both go to university in a small
Romanian town during the last
days of Communism. Otilia
books a room in a cheap hotel.
They have a date with a socalled
Mr. Bebe that afternoon.
Gabita is pregnant, abortion is
illegal and neither of the two
has experienced anything of the
sort before. 4 months, 3 weeks
and 2 days is part of a larger
project entitled Tales From the
Golden Years, a subjective story
about Communism in Romania
told via its urban legend.

CRISTIAN MUNGIU
Iasi (Rumanía), 1968. Fue profesor y periodista de prensa,
radio y televisión hasta 1994. Durante su época universitaria,
trabajó como ayudante de dirección en rodajes extranjeros en
Rumanía. Su primer largometraje, Occident, se estrenó en la
Quincena de Realizadores de Cannes en 2002. Cofundó Mobra
Films en 2003. 4 meses, 3 semanas y 2 días ha obtenido
la Palma de Oro del Festival de Cannes y el Gran Premio FI-
PRESCI al Mejor Film del Año, entregado en San Sebastián.
Iasi (Romania), 1968. He was a teacher and a press, radio
and television journalist until 1994. While at university, he
worked as an assistant director on foreign shoots in Romania.
His first feature, Occident, was premiered at the Cannes
Directors’ Fortnight in 2002. He co-founded Mobra Films in
2003. 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days won the Golden Palm
at the Cannes Festival and was presented with the FIPRESCI
Grand Prix of the Year in San Sebastian.

Nació en Brooklyn, New York, en 1949. Es presidente de la
junta directiva del Instituto del Cine Norteamericano y del
consejo de administración del Centro de Estudios Cinematográficos
Avanzados, perteneciente al mismo instituto. También
forma parte de la junta de supervisores del Colegio de
las Artes y las Ciencias de la Universidad de Pensilvania. Además,
participa en el taller de directores de Sundance y en su
programa hermanado en Francia, Emergence. Su filmografía
como director se completa con Fried Green Tomatoes (1991),
The War (1995), Up Close and Personal (1996), Red Corner
(1997), 88 Minutes (2008).
Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1949. He is President of the
Board of Directors of the North American Film Institute and
of the Administration Advisers of Cinematographic Advanced
Studies, belonging to the same institute. He is also part of
the Board of supervisers of the School of Arts and Sciences
at the University of Pennsylvania. He also participates in the
directors workshop of Sundance as well as its twined program
in France, Emergence. His filmography as director inclues
Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), The War (1995), Up Close and
Personal (1996), Red Corner (1997), 88 Minutes (2008).
