Lucio Silla, Mozarts zweiter Mailänder Auftrag nach Mitridate, rückte in den letzten Jahren durch
spektakuläre Inszenierungen in den Mittelpunkt des Interesses an den frühen Mozart-Opern. Die
Ausgabe bietet ein ausführliches Vorwort, das alle historischen und aufführungspraktischen Aspekte
des Werkes behandelt. Im Anhang wird die Arie des Cecilio Ah se morir mi chiama erstmals mit der
in einer Kopie Nannerl Mozarts entdeckten ausgezierten Singstimme wiedergegeben, ein wichtiges
Beispiel für die damals üblichen Gesangsverzierungen in den langsamen Teilen einer Arie.
Lucio Silla is Mozart’s second opera for Milan after Mitridate. Thanks to several spectacular recent
stagings, it has become the focus of interest in his early operas. The detailed preface discusses every
aspect related to the work’s history and performance practice. For the first time, Cecilio’s aria Ah se
morir mi chiama is reproduced in the appendix with the newly discovered embellished vocal part in
the hand of Nannerl Mozart – an important example of the manner in which slow passages in arias
were ornamented in Mozart’s day.
Lucio Silla, deuxième opéra que Mozart composa pour Milan après Mitridate, a connu ces dernières
années un regain d’intérêt parmi les opéras de jeunesses du compositeur, grâce à des mises en scène
spectaculaires. La préface détaillée traite de tous les aspects de l’œuvre, sur le plan historique et sur
celui de l’interprétation pratique. L’air de Cecilio Ah se morir mi chiama est reproduit pour la première
fois – en annexe – dans la version vocale avec les ornements découverts sur une copie de la main de
Nannerl Mozart, qui constitue un exemple important des ornementations vocales dans la partie lente
d’un air en usage à cette époque.
