insieme con la Fagioli ed al Terminal
Flavio Gioia di Napoli, il trasporto
e l’imbarco degli impianti dismessi
dell’ex-raffineria Q8 di Napoli e destinati
in Pakistan. Si è trattato quasi
sicuramente del principale progetto
nel Sud Italia degli ultimi 5/6 anni, per
un totale di circa 15000 tonnellate tra
carichi break-bulk e carichi containerizzati.
Alcuni colli sono decisamente
eccezionali, con pesi superiori alle
120 tonnellate e lunghezze fino a 40
metri. Attualmente siamo a circa il
60% del totale e confidiamo di completare
le rimanenti spedizioni entro
luglio 2010.
Fate parte del Consorzio SCL,
perchè nasce questo consorzio
Il Consorzio Special Cargo Logistics
è nato per proporre in maniera
congiunta le professionalità complementari
dei nostri partners presenti a
Taranto: la Peyrani Sud Spa, nostro
trasportatore ed impresa portuale di
riferimento in quell’area, ed il Gruppo
Magis Srl che opera nel settore del
sollevamento di grandi manufatti.
Che valenza ha la presenza del
consorzio al Breakbulk Transportation
Conference & Exhibition
Europe di Anversa
Circa la metà dei nostri clienti è
nordeuropea e quindi una nostra
presenza a questa fiera è stata di
fatto una scelta obbligata per poter
incontrare in un’unica soluzione tutta
la nostra clientela. Siamo ormai alla
nostra quarta partecipazione come
espositori e di fatto siamo l’unica
azienda italiana presente con un proprio
stand. Il Consorzio è inoltre nato
dall’esigenza di dare una risposta
globale a questi clienti, in modo che
riescano ad avere un unico partner
qualificato per tutte le loro esigenze
nel Sud Italia ed in particolare nel
Porto di Taranto, che ha una fortissima
vocazione per i traffici di impiantistica.
Come garantite la vostra presenza
sui mercati esteri, in particolare
quelli delle economie emergenti
La nostra presenza all’estero è
garantita attraverso il network “The
Heavy Lift Group” (www.theheavyliftgroup.com),
la più esclusiva organizzazione
del settore, della quale siamo
membri per l’Italia. Con l’ausilio di
questi nostri partners esteri riusciamo
ad offrire dei servizi door-to-door e di
logistica complessa in circa 40 paesi,
dalle Americhe al Far East.
Marimed
the Heavy lift Expert
Heavy lift vessels represent a niche in international shipping offered
by highly specialised companies with International networks.
Marimed is one of the few Italian operators. Based in Naples, Marimed
general manager Antonino Russo answered our questions...
When did you decide to enter this market
The company started in 1996 as a liner shipping agency. However
over the last five years following market trends we have gradually
changed our core business from containers to shipping conventional
and project freight becoming one of the few specialised operators in
the South of Italy.
At the moment we are the only shipping agent operating directly in
all of Southern Italy’s main ports of Naples, Salerno, Taranto and Gioia
Tauro. We work with nearly all the forwarding agents that deal with
exceptional loads and plant and equipment.
We are now contacted directly by shipping companies and heavy lift
general agents looking for the support of a shipping agent specialised
in these types of vessels which their extremely high charter fees necessitating
fast turn around and competitive costs.
How was 2009 and how does the future look
We closed 2009 with a slight fall in turnover more than compensated
by better margins. In view of the crisis we have to say that we
are moderately satisfied. We have a number of projects in hand at the
moment which will keep us in work until the summer. Unfortunately I
cannot see big jobs coming up for the second half of 2010 or for 2011.
Large projects tend to move two years later than normal traffic and
we therefore do not expect the market to pick up until the end of 2011
although it will be years before we get back to 2007 levels. As a result
our partners and ourselves have decided look at any type of traffic or
business.
Can you tell us about the jobs you are doing just now
We are looking after the transport and loading of the equipment from
the ex Q8 refinery in Naples destined for Pakistan. The work is being
done together with Fagioli and Terminal Flavio Gioia Naples on behalf
of a major international forwarder. Without doubt it is the biggest job
in Southern Italy over the last 5/6 years comprising 15,000 tons of
break-bulk and containers. Some of the pieces are of exceptional size,
up to 120 tons and 40 metres long. We have now done 60% of the work
and expect to complete by July
Why was the SCL Consortium formed and explain your role in it
Special Cargo Logistics was formed to put together the professional
competence of our partners in Taranto, Peyrani Sud Spa our
transporter and port operator and Magis Spa a company specialising
in the lifts of large loads.
Is the Breakbulk Transportation Conference and Exhibition Europe
at Antwerp important for you
About half our clients are northern European making our presence
at the fair obligatory in order to meet all our customers in one place.
This was our fourth participation at the fair as an exhibitor and in fact
we were the only Italian company with a stand. One of the reasons for
setting up the Consortium was to give a global answer to these customers
in order to offer them a qualified partner with solutions to their
problems in the South of Italy and especially in the port of Taranto
which handles substantial quantities of plant and equipment
How do you guarantee a presence in foreign markets and emerging
economies’
Our presence is assured by being part of “The Heavy Lift Group”
(www.theheavyliftgroup.comand in which we are the only Italian member.
With the support of these overseas partners we are able offer
a door to door service in 40 countries from the Americas to the Far
East.
