Agosto è il mese ideale per ricrederti e capire che, con un po’ d’organizzazione, il triathlon è alla portata e compatibile con la tua agenda. 1. Perché provarci. Di certo perché, essendo un runner, hai un enorme vantaggio rispetto a un neofita. Infatti conosci bene la corsa che è anche la parte finale di gara e quindi la più dura. In più, allenando tre discipline sportive, puoi dare tregua ai muscoli più stressati dalla corsa. Ti ringrazieranno sia il corpo che la mente! 2. Temi gare massacranti Sbagli. Esistono diverse distanze nel triathlon. Si parte da gare promozionali che si concludono in mezz’ora, fino ad arrivare alle mitologiche distanze dell’ironman. Ce n’è per tutti i gusti e anche tu potrai individuare in calendario la distanza che più ti si addice. 3. Il nuoto ti spaventa Non sei il solo. Tra le tre discipline del triathlon è quella che intimidisce maggiormente i neofiti. Nessun problema è insuperabile. Il segreto del nuoto è possedere una buona tecnica. Per costruirla è necessario individuare un allenatore che ti accompagni nei primi esercizi specifici e che t’insegni a nuotare bene e con un ridotto dispendio energetico. Una volta acquisita la giusta tecnica ti basterà un po’ di allenamento per afrontare qualunque distanza. 4. Non hai una bicicletta. Anche qui nessun problema. Se non hai in casa una bicicletta da corsa e non te la senti d’investire una cifra importante per uno sport che non sai se ti piacerà, opta per un noleggio. Molti dei negozi specializzati delle nostre città ofrono questo servizio a prezzi molto contenuti. Questo ti consentirà anche di stabilire una relazione con un negoziante che diventerà presto un tuo prezioso consulente. 5. Da dove cominciare Fai una ricerca su Internet o recati nella piscina più vicina in città e chiedi se esistono i gruppi di allenamento per il triathlon. Tutte le squadre di triathlon del tuo territorio dovranno per forza avvalersi di una piscina e quindi sicuramente lì troverai informazioni molto utili per il tuo esordio. Ricordati: il triathlon è uno sport individuale, ma fa del gruppo la sua principale forza propulsiva. Trovare una squadra e dei compagni di allenamento significherà aver già fatto il passo più importante verso il tuo esordio nel triathlon. 6. Sarai un runner peggiore Falso. Il triathlon è uno sport aerobico che allena il corpo all’endurance e mantiene una grande eicienza organica. Variare le discipline non ti farà perdere brillantezza nella corsa ma invece darà sollievo a muscoli e articolazioni stressate dal solo correre. Dopo un periodo di training multidisciplinare, se vorrai potrai tranquillamente tornare a correre le gare podistiche senza aver perso condizione. 7. Quale obiettivo Se oggi sei già in grado di correre una 10K senza afanno, puoi sicuramente pensare di esordire senza problemi in un triathlon sprint che prevede 750 metri di nuoto, 20 km di ciclismo e 5 di corsa. Acquisita una minima autonomia nel nuoto, per il tuo esordio su questa distanza ti basterà anche un solo mese di allenamento con 5-6 sedute settimanali. Per tua informazione, ecco tutte le distanze del triathlon: ◊ SPRINT: 750 m di nuoto, 20 km di bici e 5 km di corsa; ◊ OLIMPICO: 1,5 km di nuoto, 40 km di bici e 10 km di corsa; ◊ MEDIO (70.3): 1,9 km di nuoto, 90 km di bici e 21 km di corsa; ◊ LUNGO; 4 km di nuoto, 120 km di bici e 30 km di corsa; ◊ IRONMAN: 3,8 km di nuoto, 180 km di bici e 42 km di corsa. 8. La prima gara Avere una gara come obiettivo sarà la motivazione più forte durante il tuo training. Parti da uno sprint. Ricorda che a diferenza della corsa, le iscrizioni per le gare di triathlon si chiudono parecchi giorni prima del giorno fissato per l’evento. Scegli la tua gara nella sezione dedicata del sito federale www.fitri.it e informati sulle scadenze di segreteria. Solitamente l’anticipo di conferma richiesto varia tra i 10 e i 15 giorni prima dell’evento. 9. Acque libere Non è necessario cominciare da una gara che preveda il nuoto in acque libere. In calendario ne troverai molte anche con la prima frazione in piscina. È indubbio però che una gara al mare o in un lago sia molto più suggestiva per iniziare. Approfitta di questo mese di vacanza per provare la sensazione del nuoto in acque libere. Impara a orientarti, a nuotare con la testa alta e a gestire onde e correnti. 10. I “materiali” indispensabili Andiamo in ordine di disciplina. Per il nuoto la muta potrebbe non servirti se scegli un esordio in piscina o in mari caldi. Diversamente le gare ofrono sempre un servizio giornaliero di noleggio mute. Informati prima su questo. Sicuramente ti serviranno un body gara e un buon paio di occhialini. Aidati ai marchi più conosciuti e, se sei iscritto a un team, chiedi il body sociale. Della bicicletta abbiamo già detto. Ricorda che il casco, oltre che obbligatorio in gara, non deve mai mancarti neppure in allenamento: la sicurezza prima di tutto. Delle scarpe da bici, se per ora non vuoi investire troppo, puoi fare a meno; monta le gabbiette o i puntapiedi sui pedali della bicicletta e utilizza pure le scarpe da running: sarai un po’ meno performante ma non perderai nulla quanto a divertimento. Per la corsa dovresti avere già tutto, ma ricorda che sostituire le stringhe delle scarpe da running con un paio di stringhe elastiche renderà più veloci le tue transizioni. *Daniel Fontana è il più forte triatleta Ironman italiano di sempre; nel suo palmarès due Olimpiadi, due vittorie Ironman nel circuito mondiale e la miglior prestazione italiana sulla distanza maggiore.
