ABSTRACT
With the globalization process, some researchers estimate that the differences
between nations and regions must get deeper. All because regions and nations
which present social-historical aspects which increase the propensity for interaction
among different agents related to innovation production tend to present a bigger
dynamism, since the development of new technology is an important source of
economic growth, among them technology focused in human health. The health
sector system is an important characterization factor of an innovation system
maturity, so it keeps articulated with many economy segments, which as a whole can
promote the development of a certain area. Being aware that of one of the most
important elements to the development of innovative processes is the systematic
interaction occurrence among different agents with complementary skills, which
determines the very existence of a system of innovation, this work aims, mostly, in
contributing to a analyzes of the regional and sector innovation system in health in
the state of Pernambuco, from observing interactions between two important agents
of the health innovation system: the University and the Enterprise. Therefore, it was
researched: (i) historical characteristics (from the creation process of its teaching,
researching, and health providing services institutes), (ii) supporting material and
professional skills (amount and employees and health establishment’s space
distribution, equipment and medic specialties) and (iii) researching skills (researching
groups which work in health field, besides the interaction between them and sector
enterprises, settled or not in the State of Pernambuco) existing in the state. The last
phase was built based in the “Diretório de Grupos de Pesquisa do CNPq” (CNPq’s
Researching Group Database). With this mapping, it was possible to conclude that
the articulation between Science and Technology in health sector, in Pernambuco, is
weak and non-systemic, since it presents a few articulations dots betweens
researching groups and enterprises located, either in or out the state. This situation is
even worse when realizing that hospitals - a very important agent in the innovation
health system - as the only exception aren’t there among the other researching
groups’ partners in Pernambuco.
